A general note about the prints.
Printing is provided by Digital Silver Imaging, a New England based photo lab established in 2008 to provide fine-art print production for museums, galleries, and photographers.
To ensure the highest image and archival qualities, we have selected a variety of inkjet papers from Hahnemühle and from Canon, the Lucia Pro pigmented inks and Prograph printers. This combination provides the image quality of a traditional silver-based photo print, but with far superior archival qualities and a surface texture only available from fine-art papers. A certificate of authenticity signed by the artist accompanies each print.
The photographs are available framed or unframed, with an acrylic face-mount as an option also. For unframed prints, sizes up to 16”x20" are shipped flat, lager print sizes are rolled and shipped in a tube. There is no charge for shipping.
Turn-Around Time
Each print is custom-made to ensure the highest image and presentation quality. Please allow for 5-7 days for prints-only, 10-14 days for prints with frames and 12-16 days for face mounted prints. This does not include the time to ship by UPS from MA to your location.
Paper Surfaces
We provide a choice of three different paper surfaces:
Fine Art Semi-Gloss
The Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta 315gsm is a pure cotton inkjet paper that is like a traditional fiber-based photographic paper. It has a natural white base with a slight sheen to the paper surface. Prints on this paper are available unframed, or with the option of either a 0.875" x 1.25" white or black wooden frame.
Fine Art Matte
The Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308gsm is one of the world's most popular fine art inkjet papers. It is a white cotton paper, with a wonderful soft feel and a lightly defined felt structure - providing a 3-dimensional quality to the artwork. The paper conforms to the ISO 9706 standard for museum quality for the highest age resistance. Prints on this paper are available unframed only.
Photo RC Glossy
The Hahnemühle Photo Glossy 260gsm is a classic photo inkjet paper, equivalent to traditional photographic paper. It has a smooth, non-textured surface, a bright white base, and a high-gloss finish. Prints on this paper are available unframed or face-mounted to acrylic.
Aspect Ratio vs. Print Size
The aspect ratio of the image does not always correspond perfectly to the print size. For instance, the aspect ratio of an 8”x10” print is 4:5 (the ratio of the width to length), whereas the aspect ratio of the images in the Collections will vary depending on the type of camera used (E.g., 2:3) or how the image is cropped – which can be square (1:1) or panoramic (1:2 or 1:3). Therefore, the image size will be maximized based on the size of the paper chosen, including a 0.5" white border.
For example:
- If the image size has an aspect ratio of 4:5, then it will print on an 8”x10” paper with a 0.5” side-border – resulting in an actual image size of 7”x9”. On paper that is 16”x20”, the resulting image size would be 15”x19”
- If the image is cropped square with a 1:1 aspect ratio, then it will be printed on an 8”x10” paper to the longest length, minus a 0.5” side-border – resulting in an actual print size of 7”x7”. On paper that is 11”x14”, the resulting image size would be 10”x10”.
- If the image is cropped panoramic with either a 1:2 or 1:3 aspect ratio, then it will be printed on an 8”x10” paper to the longest length, minus a 0.5" side-border. For an image cropped 1:2, the resulting image size would be 4.5”x9”. For an image cropped 1:3, the resulting image size would be 3”x9”.
